VirtualBox: Add HD

  1. Add Drive

From the Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager window, select the Virtual Box and click on Settings.

Go to Storage, select hard drive and click on Add a hard disk.

Click on Create New Disk.

  1. List Partitions
fdisk -l

Iidentify which hard drive you need to partition

fdisk /dev/sdb
  1. Format the Partition
mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb1
  1. Mount the partition
mount /dev/sdb1 /path/to/mount
  1. Add fstab entry
$ nano /etc/fstab
/dev/sdb1               /path/to/mount           ext4    defaults        1 2

Resize HD

vmdk

VBoxManage clonehd "source.vmdk" "cloned.vdi" --format vdi
VBoxManage modifyhd "cloned.vdi" --resize 51200
VBoxManage clonehd "cloned.vdi" "resized.vmdk" --format vmdk

vdi

VBoxManage modifyhd "E:\VirtualBox VMs\Kali\Kali-disk001_1.vdi" --resize 81920
