GnuPG

Simetric Cipher

Encryption

we will be prompt for a password.
Or:

If we want an ascii output

Encrypt & Sign

gpg --encrypt --sign --recipient 'some user ID value' <file>

Decryption

gpg -d file.txt
gpg --output <file> --decrypt <encrypted-and-signed-file>
